On Friday June 5th, the fifth grade class marked their promotion from fifth grade into
the middle school with an exciting ceremony. Thanks to Mr. Nuttall, Mr. Ibsen, and the
fifth grade parents. Congratulations to our new sixth graders! Check out the pictures

Wednesday morning, June 3, saw the graduation of the 2009 edition of CIC's Grade Eight Class.
The graduates were dressed in their finest togs as many proud parents and equally proud teachers
witnessed the culmination of many years of hard work.
In a joint speech, Mr. Paul McCann (English) and Mrs. Mariana Bonet (Art) praised
this year's graduating class for their intelligence and their goodness.
After the ceremony, all the participants, (graduates, parents, and teachers) partook in
refreshments and shared the happiness of the event.

On Friday May 29th, the kindergarten class were recognized for their accomplishments with an
exciting and emotional graduation ceremony. Thanks to Mrs. Detherage, Ibsen Rosales, and all
of the kindergarten parents who made this an event to be remembered. Congratulations kindergarten

On Monday May 25th, Kurusa, a well known Venezuelan author visited CIC invited
by the Elementary Spanish teachers and the Library. Kids and grownups
had a wonderful time as the author read her book Lom y los Nudones in
Spanish and English. Check out the pictures in the photogallery.
On May 27 the CIC community recognized our outgoing director, Dr. Alan Benson and his wife, Yasmine for three wonderful years of service. We celebrated their accomplishments with presentations by the CIC Concert Band and Choir, as well as speeches by former board chairman Robert Jones and current board chairman Joseph Mishkin. We will always hold a special place in our hearts for Dr. and Mrs. Benson. Pictures from the event are here.

Sports this year at CIC have been great. We have continued with the Varsity program which includes Volleyball, Soccer and Basketball for boys and girls. We have participated in all three VANAS tournaments with positive results both on and off the court/field. Find out more here.

During March, Grades One to Four went on various art trips in Caracas. Grades One and Four went to El Hatillo to appreciate the beautiful colonial houses there.The students made drawings of the houses and then made clay models. They went to Hannsi store where they admired all the souvenirs and crafts for sale there. The Grade Two students went to the La Alameda lookout to admire the beautiful vista of Caracas and the Ávila. While there, they made sketches of the mountains. The Grade Three students went to Museo Arturo Michelena where they learned about the painter’s life and viewed his works.
