AYA Clash of ColorsOn Saturday April 26th a group of 40 CIC students spent their morning with 35 girls from CASA HOGAR LUISA CACERES DE ARISMENDI. They participated in three different games organized by Mr. Wilfredo and the AYA officers and a water race in which all participants had a lot of fun . They were divided in six colors and created a song and a motto as a way to bond with their team members. Later they did a colorful parade showing the audience how proud they were to represent their colors. We all had a great time! Pictures for the AYA Clash of Colors are here.
An Evening on BroadwayThis year's show was truly an all-school production and included contributions and performances by students, teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and friends. "An Evening on Broadway",was an excellent review of songs, dances, and scenes from four of the most popular and successful musicals of all time: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Lion King, Les Miserables and West Side Story. Also on display was an Art Exhibition with artwork created by students from PK to 12th grade. Pictures can be seen here.
CIC Concert BandOn Thursday, April 17th, the CIC Concert Band delighted the audience with good music ranging from classic rock to musical show tunes. Mr. Glenn Tomassi directed with great enthusiasm and energy. Certificates were awarded to our students for their effort, excellence and improvement during this school year. Congratulations on a great show! Photos are now in the gallery.

Ninth grade student, Thashia García, triumphed at the recent Venezuelan National Tennis Tournament held in Cumana, a competition of the 16 top-seeded players in two age categories - 12 and 16 years old. She defeated María Souki in a 6-1 and 6-0 final match score and also won the doubles tournament, playing with Maria F. Brion, against Ana P. Molero and Luicelena Perez with scores of 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). Thashia is now considered one of the best national player in her category! Congratulations Thashia!
Victor Lopez, a CIC senior, participated in Stop #4 of the UIPM World Cup series of the Modern Pentathlon which took place in Madrid, Spain this past April 10 - 13. The Modern Pentathlon is comprised of shooting, fencing, swimming, running and riding (equestrian). Victor has been training in all five sports in addition to completing his heavy IB coursework. He will continue his athletic training next year while attending Ohio State University. He hopes to be part of the Venezuelan Modern Pentathlon delegation to the 2012 Olympics.
During Semana Santa (March 14 - 23) this year, the Modern Languages Department again, for the 7th year, sponsored an educational trip to Turkey. Our teachers, Karen Massieu and Jorge Gaviria, led a group of 43 students, parents and friends from the CIC Community on a lovely trip around the legendary and at times, remote, Republic of Turkey. Turkey is the meeting place of two continents, the home of a variety of cultures both modern and ancient, the cradle of civilization and has influenced literature in important ways as well as being the location of wonderful scenery, legends and markets! We share our experience in the photogallery.
Make the Call!On April 10-12, CIC hosted the VANAS Varsity Boys Soccer and Girls Basketball Tournament. Schools from Maracaibo, Caracas, Puerto La Cruz and Valencia attended. Photos and results of the tournaments can be found here.
