PSTA Home

The CIC Parent-Student-Teacher Association (PSTA) is up and running for this 2004-2005 school year. We are fortunate to have this year a great group of parents, students and teachers very eager to make this year a memorable experience for all at CIC.

The CIC PSTA supports our school’s educational goals by:

1. raising money to support school programs,
2. providing parent volunteers to meet needs within the school,
3. organizing school-wide educational and social events to support school curriculum and to build a strong school community.

Some of our projects for this year:

• Continue to improve our parent outreach project through the school website, a renewed school directory, monthly newsletters, and a series of events bringing together the CIC Community. Some of the events this quarter: The Welcome Back BBQ, our Halloween Carnival, and The Festival of Lights.
• Getting parents, students, teachers, and administrators together for small projects to improve the school environment, encouraging communication between existing parent groups and providing a liaison to help new families acclimate to the CIC community and Venezuela. Some of the projects for this year are our “Mentor a Family Program,” The Culinary Club, Tuesday’s Cultural Brunch, Teachers’ Wish Lists, and “Rise and Shine Mornings.”
• Organize three major fund raising events: Halloween Carnival (October), Valentine Picnic (February) and the Spring Fling (April).
• Continue to staff and support the PSTA store, where parents and students can purchase school supplies, school uniforms, and seasonal novelties.

We encourage everyone in the CIC community to get involved and make a difference. If you are interested, or need more information, please contact any of the PSTA officers (see PSTA Board directory). We also encourage everyone to submit their ideas, questions and feedback - we have a mailbox in the Elementary Office - or via e-mail (psta@ciccaracas.com.ve). Our PSTA Meetings this quarter will be November 5th and December 3rd at 8:30 a.m. in the lower level of the library.

Dear CIC Community,

We want to thank all of you who helped make the Welcome Back BBQ such a success, either by joining an organizing committee, volunteering some of your time, providing ideas/feedback, or just coming to the event to show your support and CIC Spirit. We had a lot of fun (check out the CIC Web Page for photos).

Separately, we want to let you know that this year we will hold the Halloween Carnival on Sunday, November 7th. The reason for the change is that on October 31st, there will be Municipal Elections, and all schools in Venezuela (CIC included) are used as voting centers, and during the entire weekend the school will be unavailable. The following Saturday, November 6th is the Marine Ball, and many in the community attend that event. Also, the Senior Class will be taking their SAT test until 2:00 p.m. So we voted to have the Carnival on Sunday, November 7th, from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. Please mark your calendars. This is an event you will not want to miss.

Apreciada Comunidad del CIC,

Nosotros queremos darles las gracias a todos ustedes quienes nos ayudaron a hacer del “Welcome Back BBQ” un éxito, ya sea porque se unieron a uno de los Comités Organizadores, voluntariando su tiempo, dando ideas/consejos, o simplemente viniendo al evento para mostrar su apoyo a CIC. Todos se divirtieron mucho (vean las fotos que están en la página web del CIC).

Separadamente, nosotros queremos informarles que este año nuestro Carnaval de Halloween se va a celebrar el Domingo, 7 de Noviembre. La razón para este cambio es que el 31 de Octubre son las elecciones municipales, y todas las escuelas/colegios en Venezuela (CIC incluido) son usados como centros electorales, y la escuela no va a estar disponible en todo el fin de semana. El siguiente Sábado, 6 de Noviembre, es el “Marine Ball” y muchas personas de nuestra comunidad va a asistir a este evento. También la clase de los “Seniors” (Grado 12) estarán tomando el examen SAT hasta las 2:00 p.m. Por eso se decidió que la fecha mas conveniente era el Domingo, 7 de Noviembre, de 12:00 a 4:00 p.m. Por favor marquen sus agendas. Este va a ser un evento que no hay que perderse.

Gracias nuevamente a toda la Comunidad del CIC por su apoyo y entusiasmo.
